Located one-half mile south of the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, The Barns is ideal for seminars, business luncheons, theme events, cocktail parties, weddings, and receptions.
This historical showpiece is comprised of 2 eighteenth century barns joined under one roof. In 1981, these 2 barns were dismantled, piece by piece, and transported from their original farms in upper New York state.

The English Barn, lobby, and courtyard (weather permitting), can serve as a reception or small meeting area.
- Accommodates a maximum of 70 guests (60 is most comfortable) for a seated dinner or meeting and 125 for a standing cocktail reception.
- Capacity estimates vary depending on set-up. Note: Dancing is not allowed in the English Barn due to the structure of the suspended floor.
The German Barn can serve as an acoustically perfect auditorium for larger receptions.
- 250 removable seats on the floor and 100 seats in the balcony. Accommodates a maximum of 170 guests for a seated dinner with a dance floor (150 is most comfortable) and 300 for a standing cocktail reception.
- The German Barn cannot be rented individually, except as a meeting space.
The Rental Office has a list of approved caterers who are most familiar with our facilities. The Barns provides 3 alcoholic beverage packages, and all bar arrangements, including purchasing the liquor and staffing the bar, must be contracted through The Barns Rental office.
Rental Rates
English Barn Only
(Rental includes Lobby and Courtyard)
**Monday through Friday and Sunday only**
- 6 hour minimum: $1,800
- each additional hour: $225
Both Barns
(required for all Saturday rentals)
- 6 hour minimum (Sundays and Fridays): $2,750
- 6 hour minimum (Saturdays): $3,000
- each additional hour: $350
Meeting rates
(only applicable Monday through Friday, 9 am – 5 pm)
- English Barn: $80 per hour
- German Barn: $175 per hour
- Both Barns: $225 per hour
Exceptions and Notes
Holiday rates apply to rentals in December. Please contact the Rental Office for details. Saturday rentals during the Barns Performance Season (Mid-October through early May, exclusive of December when Holiday Rates apply) require the following:
- Both Barns rental
- Additional $300 rental fee premium (to pre-empt a performance)
- Bar addendum requiring a minimum guarantee of 125 people at one of the 3 hour alcoholic bar packages
50% rental deposit (non-refundable) and $400.00 security deposit (refundable) are due when client returns signed contract.
German Barn rentals do not include the use of the stage (behind the curtain) unless by special arrangement, including additional fee and approval of the Production Manager. All sales taxes are included in the rental facility fees.
