  • Artsplay is an integrated performing arts program for young children. The classes provide holistic early childhood music, drama, and movement experiences aimed at supporting children’s intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development. Artsplay classes are modeled after Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts classroom residencies. Each class is taught by a Wolf Trap Teaching Artist and an early childhood specialist.

  • Ever wanted to know more about jazz but didn’t know where to start? In this 5-part series, Wolf Trap Jazz Trio bassist and renowned music educator Michael Bowie will guide you through back alley blues, smoky clubs of the jazz age, swingin’ syncopations, bebop, and more. Through discussion, listening examples, live performance, and videos, participants will learn how to listen to the music, who its major players are, and why it’s considered the purest expression of American democracy. Before you know it, you’ll consider yourself a hip cat.

  • Are you brave enough to sing with the car windows rolled down? Get your pipes into shape and discover your unique vocal capabilities in this engaging, hands-on class taught by Lee Anne Myslewski, vocal instructor and Administrative Director, Wolf Trap Opera and Classical Programming. In this 5-part series, participants will learn the basic physiology behind vocal production, how to develop their best tone, vocal wellness, song analysis, and more in a comfortable group setting.

  • Intended for both beginning and experienced musicians of all ages, our Private Lesson Program allows students to express themselves creatively while providing them with a solid technical basis. Instructors will create a specialized, level-appropriate curriculum based upon the student's needs and goals. Emphasis is placed on personal achievement and broadening musical understanding. With individual lessons, students can progress at their own pace, and often improve more rapidly and develop confidence more quickly.

  • Whether you aspire to be a classical guitarist or the next rock superstar, Wolf Trap's guitar classes will give you a great start! Our instructors will cover the fundamentals: keys, chords, scales, strum patterns, and finger picking, as well as the history of the instrument, notation, and traditional musical styles. Concepts learned in class will be applied to songs and appropriate chord progressions.
